What To Wear In Scotland ~ Holiday Edition

~Layers~

After being in Scotland over the holidays, I have found out that the most essential element to packing for this location is to bring layering items. For example, fleece leggings are something that I wore every day while I was there, no matter the outfit. I was able to wear these leggings under anything from dresses, to skirts, to sweatpants. Not only were they a versatile piece that went with everything I brought, but they are extremely comfortable!

The second piece of clothing I brought with me that I found to be essential on this trip, was my Zara overshirt. This was a plaid oversized jacket that was perfect for the Scotland weather and went with nearly everything. My favorite thing I paired this item with was my gray tee-shirt sweater from Zara, and jeans, of course over fleece leggings. Not only did the jacket pair perfectly with jeans and a tee-shirt, but I also wore it over my hot pink knit dress with a matching sweater, both from Zara. I was able to wear two layers of clothing in addition to this jacket and it coordinated perfectly!

A few other items you should not go to Scotland without are Uggs, rain boots, and lounge wear. During this vacation, my family and I did a lot of sightseeing and drove to different locations and I wanted to be comfortable in the car, while also dressing in accordance with the weather. This is why Ugg boots and a comfortable pair of sweats are essential for those who may be going sightseeing and driving to different locations while in Scotland. Uggs are comfortable and easy to walk in wherever you may be going, while sweats are appropriate for Scotland weather and  comfort. Rain boots are also a necessity for this location due to the fact that it rains almost everyday and the ground is always wet, so a lot of other shoes may get ruined if they are not waterproof, whereas rain boots can be worn anywhere and go with any outfit.

The last few items I bought, I wore daily. These were my puffer coat, knitted hat, and gloves. I purchased my puffer coat from Zara, in black. Since black is a very versatile color, this coat coordinated with every outfit I wore it with and it was extremely comfortable! Because the weather in Scotland is very cold, I wore my white knitted hat every day. My favorite outfit I wore with this hat was my all black outfit consisting of a knit sweater, drawstring sweatpants, my puffer coat, and uggs, (again, with fleece leggings.) The gloves I wore were dark brown and they also went with everything I wore, mostly because I had on a black coat over my outfits which tied it all together.
